If you’ve stumbled onto this post, chances are your soul is tired. You’re over-performing. Under-prioritizing. You’ve mastered the art of functioning while falling apart. You’re not alone. This post is the first step of a self-discovery journey for women who are done pretending, and ready to come home to themselves.
Welcome to Everyday Ebony — not a lifestyle brand, but my chronicle of becoming better… layer by layer, breakdown by breakthrough.
My Breakdown Was My Breakthrough
This self-discovery journey didn’t start with spa days or journaling prompts. It began with a full-on life unraveling. I was doing all the “right” things—degree, job, husband, house, kids—but inside I felt like I was slowly suffocating under the weight of performance.
Then it hit harder than I ever imagined:
- My mother attempted suicide.
- I nearly died from an ectopic pregnancy.
- I was the emotional backbone for everyone… except myself.
I was spiraling. And nobody could tell.
The world still expected me to show up at work, fold laundry, cook dinner, smile at school drop-offs. But I was crumbling. That unraveling became the gateway to everything I never knew I needed.
The Truth I Had to Face
My so-called normal was built on a bunch of BS:
- Shrinking in rooms I should’ve been leading
- Saying “I’m fine” while silently crying in closets
- Operating from lack, not legacy
- Answering “How you doing?” with “Same sh*t, different day” like that wasn’t a red flag
The glow-up everyone preaches? I wasn’t there.
I wasn’t glowing. I was grieving.
Grieving the version of me who accepted scraps and called it security.
This was the real beginning of my self-discovery journey as a woman—one rooted in reclaiming my wholeness, not just reinventing my image.
What is Everyday Ebony?
Everyday Ebony is where I tell the truth out loud.
It’s a blog, yes. But also a survival guide. A sacred container. A living document of self-discovery for women who were told to be silent, grateful, and “strong.”
Here’s what we unpack:
- Mental clarity without bypassing your pain
- Building financial power for first-gen wealth builders
- Emotional intelligence and boundary-setting
- Healing through community, not comparison
- Entrepreneurship from purpose, not pressure
This is a place where we question everything we were taught about being “good.” Because being whole is better.
This Is for the Woman Who…
- Is constantly busy but never feels fulfilled
- Can fix everyone else’s life but not her own
- Wants peace, purpose, and money—but not at the cost of her soul or sanity
- Is layered, complex, and tired of hiding how much she really carries
If you’ve been told you’re too much or not enough—welcome home.
This self-discovery journey is for you.

Why This Matters (and Why I Speak Now)
According to the World Health Organization, women are nearly twice as likely as men to experience depression. Why? Because we carry generations of emotional labor—often in silence. And we still show up. We still pour. But we’re tired. And the silence? It ends here.
We are naming the patterns, we disrupt the trauma cycles, and we rewrite what legacy means—on our own terms.
Before You Go…
This isn’t about a glow-up.
It’s about waking up to who you already are… Her.
